The E-bike option …. and world’s greatest health threat

Journalist Greg McMillan of TheGreenHub.ca scours the internet daily for up-to-the-minute green stories that are important to you. His compilation of news items from around The Green Hub plus quirky tidbits and trends makes sure you are in the loop …. without doing the time-consuming legwork.

WE’VE ALL seen them. We’ve even probably thought about buying one of them.  The price is right, actually, at anywhere from $1,300 to $2,600. E-bikes are coming on strong, no doubt about it. Powered by electricity, they are distant cousins of the old mopeds and sometimes even resemble those scooters that mobility-challenged citizens use. But they are definitely catching on and growing transportation option like never before …

Elsewhere around The Green Hub: Politicking, absolutely, but former provincial health minister Jim Wilson touched a nerve on a visit to the Brantford General Hospital … Why was Ontario’s deputy minister of game and fisheries talking about Lake Erie fishermen back in 1936?

Last but not least: Quick now …. off the top of your head … what is called the biggest health threat of the 21st century? Cancer? Heart disease? Radioactivity? Well, according to many experts, including a recent commission run by a panel of medical professionals, the answer to that question is none of the above and is still global climate change.
