Energuy contest winner from County of Brant

Paul Carney had fully intended to get an energy evaluation done before beginning a renovation at his home on Langford Church Road.
But he didn’t and started working on the reno without it.
That all changed, however, when he heard about a contest sponsored by TheGreenHub.ca and Energuy Canada Ltd. where the winner received a pre-retrofit home energy evaluation valued at $350.
Carney says he saw an installment of This Really Old House Goes Green (TROHGG) project in the Expositor’s Brant Connection, which helped advertise the contest, and then followed up by entering online through the Facebook page of TheGreenHub.ca
His entry won and he recently had the energy evaluation, shortly after being notified about his contest win.
“They [Energuy] did a very thorough job and let us tag along around the house as they pointed out issues,” said the recently-retired weld inspector in quality control at Ford Canada. “Most likely we will follow up with attic and foundation insulation, where the biggest problems were found.”
The contest, in conjunction with TROHGG team member Energuy Canada Ltd., utilized Facebook to select the winner. To participate, people were asked to go to TheGreenHub.ca on Facebook and press the ‘Like’ button. They were then automatically entered in the contest, which was open to residents living the The Green Hub area – that’s Brantford, Six Nations or Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk counties.
The contest ended on January 23, 2011 and the winner was chosen randomly from the Facebook list at TheGreenHub.ca
